U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., chaired a Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee field hearing on the Georgia State University campus on Wednesday, August 7th.
The law building was included in Deal’s original fiscal year 2014 budget proposal and maintained support throughout the budget’s negotiations during the 2013 General Assembly, which ended March 28.
President Mark Becker along with students Eric McGhee, Kyle Walcott, Nick Squeglia and Sheila Kazemian were invited to the Atlanta City Council chamber to honor Georgia State University with a Proclamation to celebrate GSU’s 100 year anniversary.
In Honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month, First Lady Sandra Deal and the Georgia Children’s Cabinet dedicated a “Pinwheels for Prevention Garden” at GSU’s Child Development Center. Since April 2008, more than three million pinwheels have been distributed nationwide.

President Mark Becker began the Congressional Staff campus tour expressing how Georgia State is advancing academically, expanding our opportunities and broadening our influence to better serve our students and community.
Georgia State hosted its annual Day at the Capitol. Students, faculty and administrators were on hand to speak to lawmakers and showcase the great things happening at the university.
Georgia State’s marching band did itself and the university proud, smartly strutting and performing in President Barack Obama’s inaugural parade.
Georgia State hosts the Chancellor’s Economic Development Forum, showcasing research at USG universities.
