The School of Music attracts thousands of high school students each year to Atlanta for events including, Marching Band Day, Singfest, the Music for All Southeastern Regional Concert Festival and the Summer Leadership Institute. The university also hosts weekly rehearsals and performances for the Metropolitan Atlanta Youth Wind Ensemble and Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra, which provide musical experiences for more than 200 young musicians.
The School of Music supports music education programs at schools throughout Georgia. Most recently, the school through a grant from the Cousins Foundation, delivered and presented new band instruments donated by the Rockley Family Foundation to the Thomasville Heights Elementary School. Music faculty are a frequent presence in secondary school band, orchestra and choir programs by offering clinics and workshops to students and teachers, and routinely solo guest conducting with local public school ensembles.
